The most ferocious & deadly militant organization in the Niger Delta code-named, “Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders” (N.D.R.C) has urged commanders of the nine Niger Delta federating states to ensure that the entire region is protected.
Spokesman of the group, W.O.1 Izon-ebi gave the charge during a routine inspection of newly acquired equipment, such as rocket launchers, high-powered grenades, sub machine guns, gun boats among others during a successful completion of tactical training exercise at its command Headquarters Aluku-Dogodogo barracks, Northern Izon Garrison.
He stressed that the group can no longer watch Niger Deltans impoverished by multinationals, owing to exploitation & exploration activities as well as the incessant frequent gas being flared in the region.
The N.D.R.C image maker who is also tactical Commander F.U 2 forward operating Base, 3rd Niger Delta Division frowned at the way & manner gas is flared indiscriminately in the area & urged multinationals to stop the unruly behaviour, stressing that deaths & other terminal diseases ravaging the area in recent times were traceable to pollution of the environment.
He pointed out that despite the huge natural resources in the area including millions of barrels of crude oil as well as hundreds of billions of cubic feet of gas extracted from the region daily, Niger Delta, especially the Ijaw territory has nothing to show & vowed to take the bull by the horn to change the narratives.
W.O.1 Izon-ebi hinted that the deliberate refusal by oil firms to relocate to the oil rich region, despite federal government directives is an indication that the multinationals are in the Niger Delta for selfish purposes & warned that the group may be forced to test their newly acquired machines on critical oil facilities spread across the region.
The tactical Commander re-emphasized that the only way peace can be guaranteed in the niger delta is for oil firms to commence the process of relocating their headquarters to the region & stop gas flare in line with global best practices & urged president Muhammad Buhari to impress on multinationals operating in the region to do the needful & let the sleeping dogs lie.
According to the spokesman, N.D.R.C would not sit & watch Ijaws who were predominantly farmers & fishermen die of hunger, poverty & sicknesses due on a daily basis due to their polluted & devastated farmlands, fish ponds, creeks & rivers that used to be mainstay of economy.
While calling on the oil firms to end gas flare without delay & work out modalities to move their facilities to the niger delta region, the spokesman warned that a stitch in time saves nine.
